The latest Planet Zoo 2 update is 1.0.7, a hotfix out on 23 October 2026, the same day as the much bigger 1.0.6. Frontier has released 4 updates since the 13 October launch, starting with 1.0.4 on 14 October 2026. Most of the fixes are for crashes, Franchise mode and animal behaviour, and 1.0.6 also lowered the accreditation requirements and fixed costly roof repairs. Each entry below sums up Frontier's notes in plain words and links the full list. Checked 25 October 2026.

Planet Zoo 2 updates since launch, newest first, checked 25 October 2026
Choosing Resume on a franchise save no longer shows a connection error that then stops the game loading into any mode. Players reported it after Update 1.0.6 went out earlier the same day.
This is a summary. Frontier's post lists every fix: full 1.0.7 notes.
Update 1.0.6: Roof-repair costs, easier accreditation and staff fixes
Habitat roof repairs sometimes cost so much that a zoo's losses grew fast. As part of the fix, Frontier is resetting any player zoo with negative cash to $0.
Some animals now unlock at a different accreditation tier, so the tier better matches how common or easy to keep they are. The change mainly affects easy-to-keep exhibit animals and fish, and the first tier has more variety.
Lower accreditation requirements: tier 3 needs a 2-star Wildlife Reserve (was 3 stars), tier 4 needs 3-star reserves (was 4 stars), and tier 5 needs one less zoo and reserve than before (it was 2 zoos and 3 reserves).
The sign-up and link-account screens no longer accept a display name that contains profanity.
Entering the Planet Hub no longer resets the autosave timer, which had stopped autosaves happening.
The Zoopedia's "Hide unowned DLC Species" toggle now works: unowned DLC species were hidden whatever it was set to.
Exhibit animals breed less, fewer animals get boxed in aquariums, and animals can no longer jump through glass tunnels.
Exhibit animals that sometimes could not be quick released from the animal management menu now can.
Staff fixes: easier access for cleaning and restocking feeders, no wandering when a task is interrupted, and no getting stuck in the staff room.
Stability and performance
Fixed crashes when multi-selecting or moving grid pieces, releasing animals into franchise Wildlife Reserves, picking a recent colour in the flexicolour menu, placing a powered education board, deleting a habitat staff gate and resetting transport ride colours.
No more flicker with DLSS Frame Generation and HDR both on, and no softlocks with the path stamp tool or when a controller tabs from the terrain tool to another tool.
Career
In the Channel Islands scenario, exhibit species sent to and from storage now count towards the objectives.
Franchise
Quick-traded animals no longer turn up in storage.
Conservation Credits from exhibit animals are kept after a reload.
Habitat animals no longer lose the option to be quick released.
Sandbox
The sandbox settings for animal ageing and birthing, plant needs, predation and fear, and defecation now work as intended.
Exhibit colonies no longer form new colonies when mating is turned off, and the save file panels in the Sandbox hub are improved.
Animals
Red Deer no longer pronk, and the Sunda Pangolin, Greater Hornbill and shoals animate better. The African Wild Dog's howl is adjusted.
Coolers and heaters no longer change aquarium temperature, and aquarium animals now react to extreme temperatures that a heater or cooler causes.
The Eurasian Bittern's water surface requirement shows in the Animal Info Panel, and the Zoopedia gets some missing colour-morph portraits for exhibit animals.
Park management and construction
Habitat repairs no longer cost extreme amounts of money.
New notifications when a staff facility, exhibit or habitat gate is not connected to any other facility, and when no mechanics or keepers are free to clean or repair habitats.
Staff no longer rest forever in a staff room, the East Staff Room can be reached, keepers clean suspended feeders, and a staff member whose transport destination is deleted drops the box on the path instead of wandering.
The Forage Tray no longer wrongly warns that keepers cannot reach it, liana vines count differently towards foliage requirements, and education speakers keep their topic after a save and reload.
A species is no longer pinned once every animal of it has left the zoo, and the regular guest spawner is in the Essentials tab of the object browser.
Workshop, settings and other fixes
The "Times Used" count on Workshop entries updates correctly.
Menus no longer show Celsius when Fahrenheit is chosen in the settings.
Pressing Esc brings the UI back after hiding it, and you can delete the whole verification code when creating a Frontier account.
This is a summary. Frontier's post lists every fix: full 1.0.6 notes.
Update 1.0.5: Franchise loading, edge scrolling and saved settings
Franchise zoos load more reliably, above all new zoos and flat zoos.
A new "Edge Scrolling" option in the keyboard and mouse settings.
Settings that were lost after closing and relaunching the game are now kept.
The Zoopedia no longer marks DLC animals as unavailable to players who own the DLC.
Creating a Taiga sandbox or franchise map no longer picks a Wildlife Reserve as the sculpted terrain by mistake.
Franchise
Wildlife Reserves now cost the right amount of Conservation Credits.
Animals offered for cash in the Animal Trading market are a better mix of males and females, and so are animals born in Franchise mode.
The login window is longer, so connecting is less likely to time out.
Stability and performance
Less texture pop-in, and fixes for a crash with the Ecosystem Brush in the Tanzania Reserve and a crash from binding several commands to one key.
The wrong complexity warning no longer shows when loading a zoo at 100% complexity.
Career
Several softlocks fixed: in Nordic Fjords (deleting the Moon Jelly exhibit early), Great Rift Valley (quick-releasing giraffes is now disabled there) and East Africa (opening Animal Trading during the shoebill conversation).
Boxed animals no longer appear when loading the Sumatra Reserve scenario.
Animals
First improvements to climbing animations.
Fish no longer get stuck outside an aquarium when the habitat is moved, and shoals now use the extra space when an aquarium is enlarged.
African Penguins can no longer walk on water, and albino Meerkat textures load.
Park management and Workshop
Inspection reports now give 5 stars when every aspect is rated 5 stars.
Vets no longer get stuck removing dead animals from aquariums.
Featured Workshop creations show in the item browser.

Several causes of Franchise mode instability fixed, and more animals available in Animal Trading at the start.
FSR and DLSS now work when selected in the Graphics menu.
Custom key bindings no longer reset when opening the Hub, Animal Trading or Animal Storage.
No more audio distortion when switching between heatmap tabs.
Changed editable areas on several sculpted sandbox maps, for example the whole plateau on the China map.
Animal fixes: fewer escapes from habitats, less automatic boxing, and better climbing, enrichment use, breeding, shoal welfare and temperature readings.
Career
Later save slots no longer copy the medal total of save slot 1, which had unlocked career levels early.
The next scenario now unlocks if you save and quit before finishing the current one.
Franchise
Juvenile shoals can be listed for trading.
The Community Challenge panel shows all its information, and release groups show the right Conservation Credits reward.

Exporting a career or franchise zoo as a sandbox map no longer removes some land animals.

Lower interest rates on small loans.
Park reputation and animal welfare no longer disagree, and guests no longer float on some seats.

The default angle snap is now 1 degree instead of 15.
A new button switches the terrain tools to removing waterlogged ground and snow.
Habitat blueprint fixes, and the Demolish Brush remembers its height.
Workshop and rewards

Platform
PC: the Ultra graphics preset now sets Foliage Detail to Very High.
PS5: player info shows in the Franchise Animal Trading menu.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: career cutscene audio pauses when you open the console menu.
This is a summary. Frontier's post lists every fix: full 1.0.4 notes.
What Frontier is still working on
Frontier keeps an Under Investigation article with the main issues from its Issue Tracker. Last updated on 23 October 2026, it targets the next game update for the week starting 26 October 2026. Frontier says the fixes it is testing for that update are not final patch notes:
Crashes and performance
Save games
Franchise, Sandbox and Career
Building
Animal behaviour
Fixes for a number of crashes, and for stability and performance problems
Clearer save screens, so you can see which saves are in each location and are less likely to overwrite your progress
A Career softlock in Sumatra's Wildlife Reserve when a gifted group of Asian Small-Clawed Otters arrives
The Sandbox setting that stops fight injuries will also stop animals arriving injured from trading
Downloaded Workshop habitat blueprints that hold research-locked items will show in the Franchise blueprints tab, marked as needing research
Previously placed items not lining up when they are in different groups
Animals spinning on the spot, exhibit species breeding straight away or too often, males shown as pregnant, and birds setting off escape alerts while still inside their habitat
A notification when an animal has passed quarantine
The "Play Soundtrack Only in Pause Menu" setting, and Esc deselecting items before it closes menus
It is also looking into these for later updates:
Animals being boxed more often than usual
Badly wrong animal animations, such as moves that should not be possible and stiff rigging
Automated population management for exhibits
More control over seasons in Sandbox
Seasonal clothing for guests and staff
More sandbox maps, starting with North American Grasslands
Frontier's ongoing areas of focus, which it puts down to the game's complex simulation, are:
Animals climbing, jumping and pouncing
Animals sometimes not lining up with their enrichment items
Animals sometimes escaping habitats during certain behaviours
More work on the core creative tools
In its 1.0.5 post, Frontier said that since launch it had added more animals to the Animal Trading market and more server capacity. Its 14 October post announced about an hour of maintenance on 15 October from around 07:00 BST, with online features such as Franchise mode and the Workshop unavailable.
Report a bug or a connection problem
Frontier asks players to report bugs on the Planet Zoo 2 Issue Tracker. If the game says it cannot connect and your username contains a word the profanity filter blocks, raise a ticket with Frontier Customer Support. Frontier also says a VPN can cause connection problems, particularly in Franchise mode.
Update 1.0.7, released on 23 October 2026: a hotfix for resuming Franchise saves that came out the same day as Update 1.0.6. We last checked Frontier's update notes on 25 October 2026.
Did Update 1.0.6 delete my saves?
No. After 1.0.6, choosing Resume on a franchise save showed a connection error and some players feared their saves were gone. Frontier says no saved games were lost and asks players not to delete their saves folder. Hotfix 1.0.7 fixes Resume. Until you have it, restart the game and enter your mode with its own button in the main menu, not Resume.
Has Frontier fixed Franchise mode?
Partly. Update 1.0.4 fixed several causes of Franchise instability, 1.0.5 made franchise zoos load more reliably and extended the login window, 1.0.6 fixed quick-traded animals turning up in storage and exhibit Conservation Credits not being kept after a reload, and 1.0.7 fixed Resume on franchise saves. Frontier is testing more fixes for the next update. If you play through a VPN, Frontier says that can cause connection problems in Franchise mode.
Why does Planet Zoo 2 say it cannot connect to the server?
Frontier's 1.0.6 and 1.0.7 posts mention three things that can cause it. On Update 1.0.6, choosing Resume on a franchise save showed a connection error, which Hotfix 1.0.7 fixed. A VPN can cause connection problems, particularly in Franchise mode. And usernames with a blocked word somewhere in the middle are rejected by the profanity filter: Frontier says it emailed every affected player from noreply@mailer.frontier.co.uk, and its 1.0.5 post asks you to raise a ticket with its support team.
How do I report a bug in Planet Zoo 2?
Use Frontier's Issue Tracker for Planet Zoo 2. Frontier asks players to report problems there so the team can investigate them.
When is the next Planet Zoo 2 update?
Frontier is targeting the week starting 26 October 2026, according to its Under Investigation article (last updated 23 October 2026). That article lists the fixes being tested for it, and Frontier says the list is not final patch notes.
